• Orientation tour of Rio
• Check-in to your hotel
• Welcome dinner at a churrascaria, a Brazilian barbecue where freshly cooked meats are served from large skewers (dinner daily)

DAY 3: RIO DE JANEIRO

• Breakfast daily
• Explore Corcovado Mountain and the famous Christ the Redeemer statue
• Buffet lunch included
• Take a guided tour of some of the city's highlights, including the Candelaria Church, the unique cone-shaped Metropolitan Cathedral, and the colorful art mural by famed Brazilian artist Kobra, created for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games

DAY 4: RIO DE JANEIRO

• Learn capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music, at a workshop
• Exchange opportunity with local ensemble (Tbd)

DAY 5: RIO DE JANEIRO

• Discover the historical significance of the annual carnival celebration, try on one of the carnival costumes, and see some of the elaborate floats at one of the city's samba school production sites in the Cidade do Samba complex

• Take a two-stage cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain to see stunning views of the city and the bay
• Overnight Rio

DAY 6: RIO DE JANEIRO

• Take a day trip to Petropolis, the forested mountain region outside of Rio that was the summer residence of Brazilian Emperors and aristocrats in the 19th century
• Visit the Imperial Museum and the Cathedral in Petropolis
• Exchange concert opportunity with local ensemble (tbd)
• Overnight Rio

DAY 7: PARATY

• Transfer to Paraty, a charming historical town on the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro
• Check-in to your hotel
• Overnight Paraty

DAY 8: PARATY

• Take a guided walking tour of Paraty
