FEATURING THE WORLD PREMIERE OF AN ORIGINAL COMPOSITION FROM ROLLO DILWORTH

Martin Luther King Jr. & Presidents Day Weekends, 2022

Dear Choral Colleagues,

In the midst of these unusual times, thoughts of festivals and touring for 2020/2021 are not in our minds, so we are focusing on early 2022 as a goal for unique choral events that will allow us to gather together and perform again.

I have invited two highly respected colleagues to join me in leading the ‘North America Rejoice Festival’. Dr. Edith Copley, who will conduct our mixed voices track, teaches at the University of Northern Arizona, and is well-known for her outstanding choral work. Dr. Galen Darrough, the conductor of our treble voices track, has just retired from his position at the University of Northern Colorado after a distinguished career there. Both have held leadership positions in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). Each track will perform about 12 minutes of music, followed by a combined segment of all singers which I will conduct. This finale will include a premiere of a piece written especially for us by Dr. Rollo Dilworth who will attend the Atlanta concert. We are very excited about this element of the festivals.

KI Concerts is commissioning a composition from Rollo Dilworth in this time of dramatic change for singers, choirs, communities and indeed, for humanity. Through the music and our singing, we will be a force for hope, renewal and justice. That is what these two festivals represent and why I hope you will consider participation either in Atlanta over the 2022 Martin King Luther weekend or in San Francisco over the 2022 Presidents Day Weekend.

Please see further details in this brochure. We would love to welcome you to either of these unique festivals, and would be honored to work with your choirs in masterclasses and a festival chorus.
